Privacy Policy

How Cochild collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

Version: 1.0
Effective: 1 May 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Cochild Pte. Ltd. collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use the Cochild Application. It should be read alongside the Cochild End User Licence Agreement.

Cochild Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202547888Z), 36 Carpenter Street #02-01 Carpenter Haus, Singapore 059915 is the data controller for the purposes of this Policy.

This Policy is written in plain language by design. If anything is unclear, please contact us.

1. What We Collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use the Application:

Account Information

Your name, email address, encrypted password, and profile details provided during registration.

Co-parenting Data

Children's names and dates of birth, access schedules, court order details, compliance events, and records of access-related documentation you upload.

Communication Data

Messages sent through the platform, subject to the AI moderation process described in the Cochild EULA. Message content is processed for moderation purposes only and is not stored beyond that action.

Behavioural Metadata

Timestamps, frequency of interactions, schedule change requests, and moderation events. This is structural data about how the platform is used. It is not the content of your communications.

Device and Technical Data

Device type, operating system, app version, and crash reports, used solely for maintaining and improving the Application.

2. What We Will Never Do

Cochild makes the following unconditional commitments:

These are not current-version limitations. They are permanent commitments that form a core part of Cochild's identity as a Social Enterprise.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes and no others:

4. Children's Data

Children's information entered into the Application — names, dates of birth, schedule details — is treated with the highest level of protection. This data is used solely to provide the co-parenting features of the Application. It is never shared with third parties, used in aggregated analytics in any identifiable form, or processed for any purpose other than delivering the service to you as a parent.

Parents and guardians consent to the processing of their children's data on behalf of those children by accepting the Cochild EULA. Cochild does not direct any part of the Application at children as end users. Children do not create accounts.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

Cochild uses a small number of third-party services to operate the Application. These are data processors acting on our instructions only:

We do not share your personal data with any other third party without your explicit consent, except where required by law.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your Account is active. The following describes precisely what happens to data when an Account is deleted, reflecting the shared nature of co-parenting records.

When One Parent Deletes Their Account

Your personal authentication record and profile are removed from the platform. Shared family records — including access event logs, conversations, access schedules, and compliance records — remain intact for the benefit of the other parent, who retains a legitimate interest in those records. Children's data follows the family unit and is not deleted while either parent's Account remains active.

When Both Parents Delete Their Accounts

All family data — including all shared records, children's data, documents, and communications — is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems within 30 days of the second Account deletion being confirmed. No residual personal data is retained. Aggregated, de-identified analytics data that cannot be linked back to any individual may be retained for research and public interest purposes.

How to Delete Your Account

Account deletion is initiated from the Settings screen within the Application. You will be asked to confirm your password and will receive an email confirmation of your deletion request. A 30-day grace period follows, during which your Account is suspended but not yet permanently deleted. This allows you to reverse the decision if it was made in error. After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We recommend exporting your data before initiating deletion.

Data Export

In accordance with your right to data portability, you may export your personal data at any time from the Settings screen. Exportable data includes your conversation history and access event log, available in PDF or CSV format. This right exists independently of Account deletion and may be exercised at any time.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

We will notify you and the relevant data protection authority of any data breach in accordance with applicable law.

8. Your Data Rights

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@cochild.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Singapore residents may address complaints to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) at pdpc.gov.sg.

9. Proactive Family Support (Welfare Signal)

This feature is not active in the current version of the Application. This section describes how it will work when introduced.

Cochild may in future offer a Family Welfare Signal feature, developed in partnership with authorised social service providers including the Family Justice Courts and the Ministry of Social and Family Development. The purpose of this feature is to identify families who may benefit from early intervention support, before situations escalate to crisis.

The Welfare Signal is built exclusively on behavioural metadata — for example: repeated access schedule breaches, high frequency of blocked messages, or sustained changes in communication patterns. It does not involve reading, analysing, or sharing the content of any message, document, or communication.

The distinction is fundamental: the Welfare Signal observes what happens, never what is said.

When this feature is introduced:

We will update this Policy before this feature becomes active, and you will have the opportunity to review the updated terms.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Application and by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
